Sean Beavers Plays Prelude No. 1 by Heitor Villa-Lobos
The great Brazilian composer Villa-Lobos wrote six preludes for solo guitar, of which five survive. This first prelude, subtitled Homage to a Brazilian Country Dweller, begins with a melancholy and passionate cello-style melody. A livelier and happier section ensues, followed by a return of the melancholy melody.

In Capricho Árabe (Arabian Caprice), Spanish composer Francisco Tárrega evokes Arabian music. Because the Moors who occupied Spain from 711-1130 were of Arab descent, Arabian music had a lasting influence on the music of Spain. This Arabian Caprice is a hauntingly beautiful serenade.

We Three Kings is a Christmas Carol by John Henry Hopkins. The lyrics tell about men who travel a long distance to find the birthplace of Jesus. God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen is an English traditional Christmas carol. The lyrics tell of the joy of knowing Jesus as Savior.
