About

Hi, I’m Sean Beavers! I help classical guitar lovers enjoy making beautiful music.

I do this through my online course, 5-Day Classical Guitar Technique. I also teach private classical guitar lessons, through video call or in person. And I share content about classical guitar on my Smart Classical Guitar YouTube channel and other platforms.

In addition to serving classical guitar lovers through my Smart Classical Guitar content, I also serve those pursuing music as a career through my role as Associate Dean in the Liberty University School of Music, where I also serve as Professor of Music. I received the 2013 Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching from Liberty University.

For many years, I have been active as a guitar soloist, chamber musician, leader, and teacher. I have performed in Europe as well as in North and South America, including performances on Classics Radio in Virginia, West Virginia Public Radio, and Bolivian television. I have appeared as a guest artist at the Alexandria Guitar Festival, the National Flute Association Convention, and the Asolo Song Festival in Italy. I have collaborated with artists such as Jami Tyzik, Stephen Miahky, Alycia Hugo, Wendell Dobbs, Megan Roth, Kristian Anderson, and Matthew Cochran.

I have served on the Board of Trustees for the Guitar Foundation of America and as Guitar Forum editor for Fingerboard, the journal of the Virginia chapter of the American String Teachers Association. I have presented lectures at the International Experiencing Villa-Lobos Conference, the American String Teachers Association National Convention, and the Guitar Foundation of America International Convention.

Before coming to Liberty University, I previously served on the faculties of Marshall University, Thomas University, and the Baptist College of Florida.
